disclaimer: this is a rant because i genuinely don’t need advice (although i won’t say no to advice, i don’t know everything ). in all honesty, i know what to do. i’ve lost weight before. weight loss isn’t a mystery to me. i need to lose a THIRD of what i lost the first time around so i know i can do it. the time will pass regardless so i aim to use it well. that said, don’t waste time commenting to be blunt or mean to me. i am not the tough love kind, i can understand something without being barked at. i have my own, separate issues that make these things hard but not impossible.
i’ve been overeating due to the stress of going to university for the first time, procrastinating my first assignment, my body image issues and as a way of coping with my social anxiety and ocd (i’m in therapy). it’s a really weird feeling because i still weigh myself the way i always do (every day or every other day, depends on the week. sometimes every three days) and instead of the usual maintenance or weight loss, it just keeps going up. up and up and up. no sign of the scale showing me mercy these past few weeks. i am gaining weight, i’ve accepted the truth. there are occasional dips but i’ve been gaining overall. i’ve heard of people gaining weight when they move away for college but i still live at home... so… it’s definitely other stuff.
my parents also aren’t helping the situation at all. they went to visit my sister and brought back a massive bag of cinnamon rolls. my dad only bought full sugar coke (two 20 packs) so i can’t grab any of his colas for school and he acts dumb when i tell him to READ THE BOX for the word ZERO. he’s already overweight so it won’t get any worse than that and i can’t be bothered with his health on top of mine.
i refuse to drink full sugar coke so that won’t be a problem BUT i’ve been eating lots of sugar and carbs no, i don’t fear those things but overeating them is easy for me and since carbs make me feel so full, i struggle to add things like vegetables to a meal that’s heavy on them. sugar is just easy to eat, we know this, we’ve established this. i want to reverse this before i get used to it. i want to go back to my balanced diet. my diet, in terms of ingredients, has always been balanced, my issue was always portioning so when i got better at that and counted calories, i lost weight. now it’s not only unbalanced, it’s also in bigger portions. on top of that, the ease of quick carbs and sugary foods has made cooking feel like a horrible chore which it isn’t and i know this because normally, i cook for myself and its fine. that’s all i wanted to say. if anyone’s in the same or a similar situation, hugs. it’ll get better.
