Big weight swings

Hi all,

I posted here a few days ago expressing frustration because I had been doing a lot of exercise and eating well but gained 5lbs, going from 250 to 255 in around 10 days. I am 38 and have PCOS and find weight loss difficult.

The overwhelming comment was to track my calories as I was only estimating and I was probably overeating. Oh and to stop eating cheese 😅

Well I didn’t stop eating cheese but I did track my calories. After three days of tracking my calories were 1054, 2602 and 1678 so an average of 1778 across the three days since posting. Normally my diet is more consistent and I aim for 1900 calories (below my BMR) however one of these days I missed a meal and the second day I ate out for the first time in a month.

Today I weighed myself and I’ve dropped 9lbs in three days, down to 246. So I’m breathing a sigh of relief knowing that I’m doing the right things.

But I wondered. Is it normal to have such big weight swings? I know it’s probably water weight but I don’t know too much about this topic. How can you differentiate water fluctuations and fat loss? What other things can influence big weight swings like this?
