Hey, I wanted to ask if anyone has had similar experiences with weight loss or has any tips.
♀️, 16, 174 cm [5'9"]
I’ve been trying to lose weight for about 6 months now and went from around 85 kg to 72 kg (187 lbs to 159 lbs). So technically I’ve already achieved quite a lot, but I still feel like I barely look any different. Especially when I look at myself, I hardly notice a change at all, and it’s starting to frustrate me.
My weight also fluctuates constantly. Sometimes I stay at 72 kg for several days and then suddenly go higher again, even though I’ve still been in a calorie deficit. Especially around my period, I often gain weight instead of losing it.
I unfortunately don’t move around that much because of school, homework, and studying. During the week I usually only get around 4k–5k steps, sometimes a bit more. On weekends often even less, because I’m not allowed to go out alone and my friends don’t always have time.
I still try to pay attention to what I eat and keep track of calories (1400 kcal). But I’m often scared that I’m doing something wrong because the changes seem so slow.
Has anyone experienced something similar?
- When did you personally start noticing visible changes?
- Can water retention/the menstrual cycle really make that much of a difference?
- Is my progress normal or too slow?
- Do you have any tips for staying motivated without getting constantly frustrated by the scale?
Thanks in advance
