Hello everyone, I am an 18 year old male from Toronto (19 In July) and I am looking to lose a pretty large amount of weight. I stand between 5’9-5’10 and my weight fluctuates between 238
-246Lbs week by week depending on my habits during the week. The last time I was below 200 was in June of 2024 because I remember it being the Mavs-Celtics NBA finals, by the most recent NBA finals I was already the size I am now. I gained about 50-60 pounds in that year because of a LOT of reasons. I had broken up with a long time girlfriend, was drinking 3 days of the week with friends in the summer then eating 3am popeyes etc. But that isn’t the point for me my question is how should I approach it so I am able to keep it off. Here is some information about my current week by week lifestyle.
- I am not in post secondary yet, I chose to take some time to save and hopefully better myself and my life
- I work 40/50+ hours a week in a kitchen as a line supervisor ( Usually getting 10-20K steps per shift)
- I usually spend my off-days having a few beers and being lazy , because of my larger size and tolerance I also have to drink more = more calories
- I do not feel a need to drink because of my work!! Just wanted to throw that in there because kitchens are notorious for alcholics. I grew up with many of them and am not interested in drinking further.
- I have decided to quit drinking and try to build a new me (Even if it’s for a couple months well I lose some weight)
- I don’t do a ton of working out but I am pretty strong. i have a good frame and muscle mass because I have always remained active~push ups,work,basketball I guess im in need of a consistent schedule and diet
- I am open to trying all types of things when it comes to food(especially with my love for cooking)
- I won’t be able to immediately start doing large sessions of working out ~ I recently quit smoking, I started when I was only 13 so my lungs are in need of a jump start, thankfully there is no permanent damage as of last time i went to the hospital, god bless that~ I want to make better decisions and live a long happy life
My first goal weight is around 170, slimmer with a little muscle but not too slim. I also would like to lose face fat if there is a way to target that.
I don’t have much distractions that will lead me off my path other then friends (who will understand and not pressure) so any advice is helpful I will be reading all of the comments, feel free to DM me also. Thank you
