I'm stuck in a bit of an awkward position with my weight loss journey... any tips?

Basically I've been going on a calorie deficit for the past month and it's been going great (dropped 5.2kg), lots of weight loss and I'm excited to continue. Breakfast isn't an issue (greek yogurt and granola or cereal and milk), lunch is (sometimes) an issue but I can remedy that with small portions but dinner is where the trouble begins. Most nights a week (Monday through to Thursday for dinner and then lunch on Weekends) my parents make curry as we originate from Sri Lanka. I've been looking into the calories for curry dishes and they seem very unhealthy, so I'm not sure what to do. It seems like cutting out the rice is a good way to cut calories in rice and curry but obviously, you can't just eat curry by itself and whatever you replace it with (think naan, roti etc) is equally unhealthy. Due to the very expensive society (and being a Uni student) being able to cook Dinner most nights a week for myself is unfeasible as the curry would still be cooked regardless for my family and the cost of buying, for example, a piece of meat and eating with peas/ salad/ whatever healthy side is simply too high in terms of additional weekly cost especially since I don't have a job to pay for it myself.

What would you recommend to do in my situation? It feels awkward eating curry purely by itself and even then the currys themselves are inherently unhealthy. I just need a little bit of guidance on what may be the best course of action or what anyone else in a similar position may have done. I'm currently trying to get a job to buy myself my own dinners but the job market in Australia is just absolutely horrible right now :(
