44 / M / 254 lbs / 5’8”
I have been overweight since I was 18. The only times in my life which I have lost any meaningful amount of weight is when I became really sick - when I got mono + strep throat, covid, etc. But each time, I regained the weight and have spent most of my life in the 250 lbs range. My goal is 165 lbs but that number seems so unrealistic at this point.
I have kept putting it off but my medical shows several health conditions to include obesity, HBP, pre-diabetes, gout-arthritis, fatty liver, etc.
I can’t cook for the life of me. I don’t like diet / sugar free foods and detest sugar substitutes. I think I can count my calories but all my life I’ve eaten microwaveable foods / foods of convenience which are far from healthy. I don’t see myself in the kitchen food prepping like many others who have succeeded to a healthier life-style. I hear people who have lost a significant amount of weight can no longer eat certain foods without digestive consequences, is that true? These are just excuses that I’m making for myself to start, aren’t they?
