so, i gained weight pretty fast when i was young. i have never been thin, but i wasn’t overweight either until about 16 or 17– i took antidepressants and was eating my feelings and ended up weighing around 222lbs.
for context im 5’2.
so around last year i decided i had enough of it and wanted to lose weight, i started doing a calorie deficit and (sometimes) exercising and over the course of a year ive lost 80 pounds. now im around 143-139lbs depending on the day. but the problem is i have quite a bit of loose skin, especially around the breasts, inner thighs, arms & stomach. it makes me regret even losing weight in the first place.
i’m only 18, i turned 18 a month ago. so i thought my loose skin wouldn’t be that bad, due to the fact im “young & my skin has more laxity”. but it’s really getting to me. i’ve been exercising more for a few months (3-4 times a week for about an hour each time), taking collagen supplements, using collagen / firming lotions, staying hydrated, etc. and it’s gotten maybe a LITTLE bit better… but not much. it just seems to get worse the more i lose.
i’m still trying to lose more weight, my goal weight being 120lbs, preparing for a full 100 pound weight loss since i started. my mom & dermatologist say my loose skin will likely bounce back, but i’m not sure if i believe it.
i’m already an extremely insecure / self conscious person who pays way too much attention to the way i look, so the loose skin definitely doesn’t help and is taking a toll on me mentally.
what can i do about this? will it eventually tighten and bounce back? does anyone have any advice to speed up the tightening process?
thank you :).
