I was 446 at my heaviest and have been boxing for 2 years. My weight is holding me back from competing. I started late and want to drop as much weight as possible before my window closes since I’m turning 20 soon.
I’ve lost a lot of weight before, essentially by smoking weed instead of eating, but I had to quit after one bad experience, and now I’ve been stuck around 370–380 lbs for years. It’s really frustrating.
I’ve tried different diets like OMAD, keto, and fasting, but nothing stuck because it felt really hard. Lately I’ve been trying to eat fewer calories just eating the things i like (usually junk like fast food, snacks etc but in moderation), but the weight isn’t moving. I’m wondering if it’s the food I’m eating, if I’m miscounting, or something else.
My goal is to get to 240 lbs in about a year. Is that realistic? How do I break through this plateau and start losing consistently while keeping my strength for boxing?
Any advice, tips, or personal experiences would be appreciated, especially things like problems you ran into, mistakes you were making, or things you had to fix, maybe it’ll click with me as well.
