I'm struggling with weight loss... HARD

So as the title says, I'm struggling. HARD.

My story goes along like this. I've always been overweight. All my life. And then, around 3 years ago I lost 40kg... Only to gain all of it back plus another 40kg on top of that. My mom, bless her heart, tries to help me. She does. But more times than I can count her advice is more harmful than not. (Think, encouraging me to go on a 900 kcal diet... 900 A DAY) Me on the other hand? I'm literally lost. I lost those first 40 in a very unhealthy way (eating a single egg sandwich a day for a year and a half) and now I don't know what to do anymore.

I'm hitting the gym for the first time in my life but my diet man... That is the hard part. How do you even realistically curve your cravings and/or binges when you've had a lifetime of self-indulgence???

How can I find the strength to do what needs to be done and finally lose the weight?

Any help is appreciated.
