I lost weight with keto, gained again after gym, and now I’m stuck. What should I do? (29F, 165cm, 69kg)

Hi everyone! I’m a 29 year old female, 165cm tall, currently 69kg.

A few years ago I was 72kg and I did a very strict keto diet + walked 10k steps every day. Within about 3–5 months I went down to 57–60kg. I looked great, but keto absolutely destroyed me. I had severe hair loss, vitamin deficiencies, weakness, and low energy.

After that I joined a gym. They gave me a mix of cardio + strength training and told me to eat normally instead of keto. I actually enjoyed the workouts. But after 2–3 months of gym I went from 60kg to 66/67kg. I did look more toned, but I also felt like I gained some fat back. I was very concerned about my BMI. Then I stopped gym for about 5 months and now I’m back to 69kg again.

At this point I feel confused. Keto worked fast but was unsustainable and messed up my health. Gym made me stronger but the scale went up. And taking a break made me gain even more.

I want to be in great shape by the time I hit 30, but I don’t know what direction to take anymore. Should I go back to the gym anyway? Is this weight gain normal when starting strength training? And what should my approach to food be if I don’t want to go back to strict keto?

Would appreciate any advice from people who’ve been through something similar. Thank you!
