I've been on this particular journey for 13 weeks now and made a rule that, every 7kg I lost (i.e. 20% of the way to my target weight) I would have a treat and not worry about the calories. I've made two of these goals so far, the first one was a wonderfully indulgent Shibuya berry brick toast that I made from scratch and this time it was baklava that I also made.
36 pieces were made and 16 of them were parcelled off to friends leaving 20 for myself and my wife (a total of maybe 4,000kcal) and I've been having 1-2 a day since Wednesday and you know what? I'm still down 1.5kg this week (a little higher than usual). Despite it beïng filled with a variëty of nuts, honey and sugar syrup, I've managed to make it work. I've not done anything to compensate, just beïng reasonably self-controlled in not having the whole tray of baklava at a time, and I'm probably enjoying it more than I would have had I eaten 6 in a day.
All this to say: don't be afraid of treats, they're part of a healthy attitude to food anyway.
