Hi everyone,
I’m a 29-year-old male from India, starting at 88.9kg, and my goal is to reach around 70kg. I’ve tried to lose weight before but often lost motivation after a few weeks (few times - days!), so this time I really want to do it right and stick with it.
Reason to lose weight: I am entering the arranged marriage scene (pretty common in my country) and I have already lost 4-5 alliances due to my ungainly looks (I am not ashamed of myself, even I think I could look a whole lot better)
About me:
Age: 29
Current Weight: 88.9kg
Goal Weight: 70kg
Height: 182cm
Activity: currently mildly sedentary (partly desk job partly run like your life depends on it), planning to incorporate 10k steps a day
Diet: Mostly home-cooked Indian food (rice, chapati, dal, veggies, etc.) | Limitations include beef and pork.
What I’d love advice on:
A realistic calorie goal for starting out.
How to manage portion sizes with Indian meals.
Any small, sustainable changes that worked for you in the beginning.
Tips for staying motivated and avoiding that “drop-off” after a few weeks.
I know it’s a long journey, but I’m determined to hit my goal this time. Would love to hear from anyone with experience, especially if you’ve had success while eating a similar diet.
Thanks so much in advance!
P.S.: formatted with ChatGPT as English is not my first language.
