Promised myself I'd finally post...

I'm proud to say I've reached my goal weight this morning. I've been heavy my whole life and at it's worse I was 356 lbs. I've lost a total of 131.4 lbs as of this morning. I'm a 54 year old dude so youth is not on my side but I'm proof it can be done. Many years ago I divorced. I divorced at 332 lbs and through initial grief and continuing CICO I lost 107 lbs. Got myself down to 225 lbs. But than I regained it all and a bit more. Ballooned back up to 356 lbs. 225 was always a magic number from my initial weight loss journey so I arbitrarily chose it as my current goal and this morning the scale read 224.6 lbs.

It feels great and I'm gonna push on to get under 200 lbs. Maintenence kinda frightens me and 225 is still a bit heavy for my frame. Anyhow I told myself I would post if I made it so here I am. I believe everyone has unique methods that will spell success for them individually. The trick is finding yours and sticking with it. Allowing yourself grace when you fuck up and getting back on the next day after the inevitable misstep. Those mistakes are guaranteed. Plan on them.

What worked for me was 90% meal prep. It keeps portions at bay and is hyper convienent. I began using a website called Mealime. Than the meal Prep Manual youtube station. And currently I've been diving into the recipes of the Stealth Health series. I want for nothing. I have a freezer in my basement full of everything I could desire. Lasagna, Chicken Tikka Masala, Pizza, Burgers, Asian and Mexican fare....you name it. I even drink some beers from time to time. The meal prepping can be a bit expensive at first. Buying containers and spices...but once you're stocked up as time passes you spend less and less. Even at first it's way cheaper than take out and a shitload cheaper than hospital bills.

I exercised a bit here and there. Never with any great discipline. Began dating a girl who told me I look like shit in my 3xl shirts and she took me shopping. That helped with my body dysmorphia. I'm down to an XL shirt from 3-4XL. Clothes that fit well can be a massive inspiration.

I just wanted to share my experience. Keep myself accountable and maybe send some folks down a path that may work for them. Good luck.
