Family members keep gaining weight and I’m genuinely worried

My sister (34) and her daughter (9) have been consistently gaining weight due to their lifestyle choices. We live in a country where eating out is really cheap, delicious and readily available anywhere. She and her family eat out all the time since they feel like cooking is a hassle despite having a very nice kitchen. They do not struggle financially.

I can literally see my sister’s stamina going down in the past recent months. My niece is now the biggest kid in her class which hurts her social life even more since she is on the autism spectrum. She is also getting early signs of puberty. It pains me to see my family’s health deteriorating but she lives far away from me and there is little I can do to get involved other than talking to her, and I know for a fact that this is solely due to a lack of discipline and motivation on her part. (Some of you may come at me for saying this but I’m really close with her and I know her situation and daily schedule inside out.)

The problem is that any time I just even vaguely mention the topic of weight, she reacts negatively so the conversations always end up in a dead end. I’ve tried saying it with positivity, sending her tips and articles about meal planning, etc. but it never works. I’m not judging her, I’m genuinely worried but I don’t know what to do. I myself struggled with weight loss from an early age and I always try to control my portions and work out daily, so I know it’s not an easy journey, but it’s also doable with enough drive.

I would really appreciate some advice from people whose family members were the trigger for your changes. Thanks!
