Requesting tips for fat loss as a 24F Indian vegetarian

Hi everyone.

I am 24F in India, and I am a vegetarian (was raised so). When I was in college a few years ago I weighed around 55kg due to the immense walking I had to do in campus. But once my work/job started, and I entered this sedentary Tier 1 city lifestyle, I have gained weight. I was at 66kg 2 years ago, when I went to the gym (it was right behind the building where I lived, so close that I had no excuse not to go) regularly for 3 months and brought it down to 63kg. However, I had to change cities, and I went back to losing motivation as the closest gym to me right now is still pretty far.

I recently joined swimming classes - hoping to learn so I have some interesting physical activity that can push me. But though I now have the skill, it is pretty hard to find a pool close enough to my living area for regular swimming.

I currently weigh around 69 kgs and I am around 152-153cm in height, which I think is borderline obese. I have also basically forgotten whatever I learnt from the previous trainer as well. Some days I go walking around the neighborhood, but that is pretty much the only exercise I can get.

I would like to lose weight/fat in a healthy way. I am aware diet plays a major role, so if anyone has any tips on how to build a sustainable veg diet (no eggs either - I have borderline anemia not diagnosed but noted in a blood test I did recently, and vit B deficiency). And aside from this, if there are any suggestions of the type of exercise etc., that does not need a gym, that would be great. I am considering starting running, but again I am unsure.

Please help me out!
