Back in Jan 2025, I got my bloodwork done and found out my HbA1c was 6.6 and my BP was high (129, 87). That honestly shocked me, I’ve never smoked, never had alcohol, didn’t even eat a lot, but I was living a really unhealthy life. I was working 14–16 hour days, barely slept properly (waking up in the middle of the night all the time, my job was a toxic nightmare), and was eating out almost every single day. I quit that job, started focusing on myself, more sleep, less to no stress, eat home food now, walk 1 hr a day. As of May 2025, my HbA1c is down to 6.1, my BP is back to normal (101, 72), and I’ve dropped from 95 kgs (209 lbs) to 78.45 kgs (178 lbs).
But here’s the part that confuses me: back in 2016, the only other time I got my HbA1c tested, it was also 6.1 (No, the doc didn't point this out and my parents didn't know what hba1c was, although my granny was a diabetic), and at that time I was 54 kgs at 5'9. I was an athlete back then.
Anyway, now, I kind of expected it to fall into the non-diabetic range, you know? Maybe I’m expecting too much. Is 6.1 decent, given the context?
