i've lost around 16 lbs so far, but i have been dealing with my overeating/binging issues much longer without focusing on losing weight. yesterday i was stressed and decided oh fuck it i've been losing weight and i'm on track, i'll just have one comforting meal to get me through this but i really couldn't. instead of not being able to put the food down i had this voice going "this won't fix anything, you have to deal with the issue" (my therapist told me this). so i did, i put the food down and i listened to some music and journaled about the stressing situation. the food was right there, i laid it out and it was ready to eat but i couldnt eat it, i just couldnt.
please stop discouraging people from pursuing intuitive eating and mindful eating. "have you ever seen anybody doing IE that isn't obese?" almost as if people won't instantly drop the weight, and they have to fix their mental issues first and foremost? if i hadn't learned the skills i did through counseling and educating myself i wouldn't have been able to do this. and i went to therapy and learned portion control while i was fat. please work through the root cause of your eating problems, you have your whole life to lose the weight
