Calorie deficit and workout causing bad dreams and restless nights?

I’ve been in calorie deficit for about 2 months (eating around 1200-1500 calories, I’m 71 kg, 169 cm, female, sw: 78 kg, gw: 55 kg). I also work out 3-5 times a week (at home hiit, running, choosing walking instead of public transport or car whenever I can)

And in the last few weeks I’ve been having bad dreams and nightmare. It’s getting so bad that I’m waking up my boyfriend with my screams or out of fear while still in sleep. I hardly remember the dreams. I also wake up very tired each morning, even if I had enough sleep and didn’t have any dreams. I feel like I only had 1-2 hors of sleep even if I sleep 7-8 hours.

This on top of constantly restricting my eating makes me lose motivation to work out, feel unhappy and depressed. I still do the workouts but it’s twice as hard if I’m this tired.

Can diet and workout cause this? Have you ever experienced similar thing?
