Okay, I(22m) used to be in great shape. I grew up as the fat kid, found a sport I love in middle school and got in shape. I dieted and focused on athleticism. Don’t get me wrong, never had a six pack or anything but I was athletic and strong and looked good going into college. First two years of college I back slid a bit and gained like 30-40 pounds. Spent a whole summer just getting the wait off. We’re talking 4 months of grueling dieting and training. Got into a relationship, put some weight back on. Relationship ended, put more weight on. Definitely fucked me up more than I wish it did and backslid about 70 lbs higher than where I’d want to be. Granted I was lifting a lot and am the strongest I’ve ever been. I’ve been getting myself back together for the past three months, have lost some of it, feeling a lot healthier and happier as this version of myself etc. Eating better and less, more cardio, getting that tdee up by incorporating more casual movement activities in my day.
But I still have about 55 more pounds to go, and with a priority of still having a social life, still wanting to travel, and not wanting to absolutely hate life— I’m worried how long it will take. I know it’s going to be a slow and steady journey, in the past I’ve had no problem isolating and just going crazy to cut weight to be back where I want. But I love my friends, I love good food, I love to try things. I want to get back where I wanna be, and I know it will come with time. But it’s the amount of time that’s so daunting. I was so used to being like “we’re cutting this amount of weight in this amount of time— fuck anything that gets in my way.” But obviously that wasn’t successful or else I wouldn’t yoyo. I guess this post is just a question to those who have lost the weight and kept it off by the slow and steady method— was it worth the wait?
