I lost a lot of weight about 2 years ago dropping from 226 to 170 and I stayed stable there for 2 years now. However I just had my physical and I have high cholesterol so I’m dieting again (and exercising).
I lost weight with keto and extreme calorie restriction the first time. Effective but not practical and caused my cholesterol to go up not surprisingly.
This time I am just doing CICO. I swim 20 laps a day, a slow pace - I’m just moving my body. And I eat “less”. I don’t track calories (yet). Doing that for 3 weeks I’ve lost 5-6 pounds already. If I plateau I will start counting but I’m relying on my body to adjust to lower calories and higher exercise for now and it seems to be effective.
The biggest thing I learned the first time I lost weight is that weight loss is 90% kitchen only 10% exercise. And to trust my body. When I’m reaching for food now I think “are you thirsty not hungry?” for example.
Anyway just posting to throw my hat in the ring and say hi!
