Changed goal from 2lbs/wk to 0.5lbs/wk

I'm AFAB nonbinary 28. I'm around 190lbs and 4'11". I was around 175lbs but then I went back home to the US for the holidays and gained it all back. I've been struggling since to lose it again.

I'm currently eating between 1700-1800 calories a day because I found 1500-1600 too difficult. 1200-1400 to lose 2lbs a week feels impossible. Anyway, to my dilemma below.

I was originally trying to stick to losing 2lbs a week but I'm finding it much too difficult so trying 0.5lbs. Did anyone else start like this? If you did, did you stick it out until your goal weight or did you start gradually lowering calorie intake until you were losing 2 lbs a week?
