In May of 2021 I was put in phentermine by my doctor to lose weight because I was borderline obese. For reference I (then 26F, still 5’4 lol) was pushing 175lbs. The phentermine worked phenomenal and in 3 months I lost 25 pounds. After I came off of it I managed to get down to 142 on my own and I loved it. That weight looked so good on me. On top of that, the sports I love to do became so much easier to do. I was hiking 10+ miles, running similar distances, and rock climbing easier.
Then due to an ankle injury I had to stop running for a few weeks. This was last March I believe. During that time my mental health tanked and I went back to my terrible eating habits. Since then I gained back 20lbs. I told myself 150 was my threshold and when I hit that I needed to take control again. Well clearly I didn’t and gained weight quickly because I just couldn’t get myself back into running.
I created a weight lifting routine which has at least plateaued my weight gain but the only thing that really seems to work is running (and obviously CICO but a deficit is much easier with cardio). I had kept convincing myself that I can’t run because I lift in the morning (gym is too busy after work) but I’m done with that. I’m going to start running after work on my treadmill that I have at home. It’s coming out of retirement.
I’m tired of not being my best self and not being happy with how I look. I’m tired of having to keep restarting. It’s time to take my life back.
