6 months ago I had a health scare when Drs discovered early signs of non-alcoholic fatty liver disease whilst doing an abdominal scan. A few years of lockdowns and generally lack of appreciation for exercise for my life had caught up with me. I was tired, overweight and not healthy.
Queue a change needed and I’ve done a fairly dramatic one by taking up boxing / boxing training. This stuff is BRUTAL. 3 sessions of HIIT, weight sessions, and a couple of boxing group classes (with sparing) per week has seen a massive difference. I’ve lost 6kg (13.2lbs) however the biggest difference is how I look. Been building muscle so looking so much more toned and in shape.
For first time in my life I look overall toned and healthier. Colleagues who haven’t seen me for years cause of pandemic commenting I’m looking younger now than I did a couple of year ago. It’s doing wonders for my mental health, and after a tough day at work getting to punch something is often a great stress relief.
If you haven’t started or thinking about what to do to switch up your routine give boxing in a friendly gym a go. Never thought I’d say this 6 months ago but currently laid up with flu and so missing exercise and what it gives.
