Diet with activities we love?

Hello,

I'm a Male, 169lbs and 5'5 and my Sister's 146lbs, 5'3. Quick storytime we were very sporty-active before the pandemic. We played/did Volleyball, Basketball, Running, Cycling, Dancing, and Walking. But when Covid-19 started, we started gaining lots of pounds in 2 years. We stopped doing activities that we love back then and we couldn't control our eating habits. We ate a lot of chips, chocolate, and drank soda.

But, will we go back to our weight goal when we go back to the activities and good eating habits? We ate with Portion Control before, and go outside almost everyday.

Our weight goal; Mine: 140lbs My sis: 120lbs.

Is it possible to lose fat/weight whilst on a diet and doing the activities I added? Should we lift weights also because I heard that you'll lose muscle if you are on a diet.

NOTE: TWO OF US WERE REALLY ACTIVE BACK THEN BUT FAT TOO AS A CHILD.
