Damn.
I started running about a month ago. I go out at night cause I’m pretty embarrassed to run in front of other people. Tonight, at the very start of my run, I got too close to the edge of the road and hit some uneven pavement. I ended up rolling my ankle, hard, and basically belly flopping onto the road.
At first I thought I could walk back but my wife insisted on picking me up when I called her. I’m glad she did too cause I’m pretty sure I fucked up my ankle. It’s definitely jacked. Limited range of motion, can’t put much weight on it, swelling, and when I just looked it was bruising a bit too.
Plus I got some pretty decent road rash on all four limbs and my right tit. It looked like a chunk of skin peeled off of my knee when I took my leggings off.
The worst part is, when I took my glorious dive, a car was driving right by me and definitely saw the whole thing.
I’ve been making such good progress lately. Tonight I was planning on setting a new mileage record. I didn’t realize it was going to be a new record for my shortest run yet. .15 miles!
On top of that I have a road test and a physical coming up for a potential new job.
Really hoping this doesn’t mess up my career and fitness goals. I finally felt like I was on the right path for once.
I could use the encouragement and it looks like I’ll be couch ridden for the next couple of days. Tell me what are some of your setbacks that you’ve successfully had to pick yourself up from and dust yourself off.
