When you switch to maintenance temporarily is it normal to…

Gain ‘weight’? I have been on and off sick (cold/cough virus, never tested positive for covid) for the past weeks. This week was the peak- where you’re head is spinning and you got to lie down type situation.

Decided to eat at maintenance this week a) so I didn’t do the classic ‘o you’re sick just eat all this food to feel mentally better’ approach and b) because I wanted to give my body a better chance of recovery (unsure if that’s science based but what the hey)

So I ate at maintenance and I ate good food- no junk- just more of my usual cooked meals.

I measure everything precisely. Everything. I don’t have a measurement problem. My on point measuring means I’ve had a pretty steady 1lb a week loss since November last year.

Man I gained 3.8lbs this week. Meeeerrrrrggg (said with a blocked nose tone) I know it will drop off quickly if not by this week but—-

Have others experienced this? Im trying to figure out if:

1) whilst MFP has the right calories for me for 1lb a week loss, this makes me think well of course it must have the correct maintenance calories as well. But maybe it doesn’t?

2) it’s normal to have a bit of bloating when you switch temporarily (or first switch back) to maintenance?

3) some other reason I haven’t considered
