How to walk in to the gym for the first time

I've been wanting to go to the gym for a while now, I'm not great at exercising, i have had a lot of failed attempts at trying to do my own routines at home, I end up crying a lot which isn't fun. I thought maybe going to a gym might be a good idea, to maybe go to a class to have people actually there to help me get it right.

But i am really anxious about going in to ask about it, especially with COVID as it seems wrong to just go up to talk to people now. I always feel like im bothering people, but the gym i was considering going to doesn't have a great website to use and didn't give a lot of detail about their classes. I was wondering if anyone had any tips on what to say and how to ask about joining a gym? And what their experience was with the inductions and getting started?
