Is “starvation mode” a real thing?

I’ve got a significant amount of weight to lose and unfortunately the only thing I’m losing right now is my mind.

For two months I’ve been doing VLCD, CICO, OMAD + IF.

Basically, I eat all my food for the day between 3PM and 9PM and I eat a total of 650-800 calories for the entire day( I am not miscalculating calories, I am meticulous, measured and extremely detailed. ) I eat a pescatarian/vegetarian diet and avoid refined sugar. I also do 30-45 mins of cardio 3+ days a week.

The first month- amazing, was losing ~5lbs a week. Second month, I struggled to lose .5-1lb a week (even during a week where I fasted for 48+ hours).

People keep saying my calorie deficit is too low (normal BMR is about 2200) and that this has put me in to “starvation mode” and dropped my BMR to a place where I’m no longer in a deficit...this seems like BS! Is this for real?

If my BMR really is whacked, I don’t have any health conditions, but I don’t think I’d feel entirely safe dropping below 650 calories a day...but I also don’t understand how and why tf this math isn’t showing up on the scale. Ugh.
