Finally found a space to share!

Stats: 22M, SW: 90kg, CW: 70kg, GW: 70kg, H: 5'5"

So, I used to be extremely obese my teen life - iirc I had hit 90kg weight well before I was in high school. Having been fat shamed and ridiculed all my life, I had almost given up and accepted being fat as my reality. Until college.Just before the finals of my first year - I got gallstones and then a subsequent surgery got rid of my gall bladder. Now - my doc recommended bland, non-spicy food for 1-2 months. During the post-op break I chanced upon a documentary regarding sugar - 'That Sugar Film'(definitely suggest). What I saw horrified me - to such an extent that I have an aversion to sugar till this day - yes, I gave up all forms of added sugar - only sugar intake is through fruits and other naturally occurring sugar. After 2-3 months, due to the food and the sugar restriction - I saw my weight decrease for the first time in my life - my wrists were getting thinner and I could feel it. I have no words to describe how that felt - the realization that I COULD lose weight. So I decided to try harder - I started bike commuting to college, tutoring work and almost everywhere else as well, and I started to eat less in quantity but more frequently.

In a year, I had managed to go from 92kg to 66kg. This was in 2019, by the way - I just had no space to share it. Every time I would talk about it to anyone - they would either say "you weren't that fat" or "stop being obsessed about how you look", this is why I am sharing all this here after so much time.

After college ended I left home for uni and it was a residential campus so my bike commuting time reduced drastically - and since I had dedicated myself to one form of exercise only - I started gaining weight again. However, I picked up badminton in university - loved it, still do - and my weight increased from the 66kg it was to 71kg, but I don't feel fat anymore - and I don't really mind these extra 7 kilos. My brother also says it makes me look healthier.

Cognitive changes experienced: I made a separate para regarding this, since I feel this needs to be highlighted - once I dropped sugar AND started losing weight - I felt so much more energetic all day - no sleepy feeling after lunch, my daily sleep requirement went down by 1.5-2hrs - further, my concentration and focus improved so much - it is not easy to describe via words. Bottom line - these changes and not my looks - are the reason why I am the most grateful that I was able to lose these 20kilos.
