Anyone had success with simply portion control?

Hi- I'm a long time browser of r/loseit but this is one of my first few posts.

I'm 18F, 5'7. In January 2020 I was at my highest weight of 163lbs and body fat percentage of 31-32%. Over the course of quarantine (9-10 months) I was able to drop to 146lbs (142 at lowest) and 23-22% body fat percentage through 500cal deficits (ate about 1400-1500 a day) and weight lifting. (Oh do I adore it- the results I've gotten in 9 months of weight lifting are ridiculous compared to the results I got from 3 years of 'at home workouts') I've lost INCHES!!! on my waistline, hips, legs and my Hank Hill butt have never looked better. I'm feeling great.

I've been using my fitbit to count calories and macros daily- and I'm in the habit of counting my macros. But with the new year coming up, I really want to leave the calorie counting behind. I want to start simply eating again, I want to be one of those people who isn't constantly on a diet.

I'm going to try simple portion control- no more counting calories. I'm not trying to lose weight anymore- I'm trying to gain muscle. If quarantine has taught me anything it's to live live live, and I feel like I'm wasting a lot of time counting and measuring when I'm already feeling confident in my abilities. We have lots of pre-measured tupperwears and portion-control plates at home, and through experimentation I've figured out what foods make me feel great and which foods make me feel shitty.

Has anyone found success just eating right and the right amounts without calorie counting? I'm feeling confident and ready to conquer 2021, without the strings attached from dieting and my fitbit.
I'd love to hear your stories of success from portion control- advice or tips too!

Thanks :}
