GLP-1s helped me stop binge eating—but I still eat rice every day and it's working.

I just wanted to share something in case it helps anyone else stuck in that “all or nothing” mindset.

I’m based in the Philippines, and I’ve struggled with yo-yo dieting and binge eating for years. I’d lose 10 lbs, then gain back 15, usually after one “bad” meal spiraled into a whole week. Carbs (especially rice) felt like the enemy.

A few months ago, I started semaglutide (GLP-1), and it honestly changed everything. I didn’t expect it to impact me mentally as much as it did—I suddenly had space between a craving and an impulse. Like I could pause, think, and actually decide if I wanted the food.

And here’s the thing: I still eat rice. Every day.
Just smaller portions. And I feel satisfied.
No guilt, no punishment, no “starting again Monday.”

Since then, I’ve lost 21 lbs. But more than that, I’ve felt... normal around food for the first time in years. No food rules. Just consistency.

If anyone’s interested, I recently helped start a small community focused on GLP-1 weight loss and Filipino food culture: r/WeightLossPhilippines. No pressure to join—just putting it out there in case someone else is going through this too.

How are you all doing with balance and mindset lately? Would love to hear how you’re making things work without going all-or-nothing.
