I’m 5’10 and right around 175 lbs. People often tell me “you don’t look that heavy”, however it’s not something I necessarily believe. For the past year I’ve eaten around 1600 calories a day as a pescatarian who wasn’t great at getting protein in. After some really bad mental health episodes and hitting 180lbs (I was 170 just a few months ago) I decided I needed to lose weight.
I entered a 1000 calorie deficit and put my mostly plant based diet on pause to aid in protein consumption. The results, as you can imagine, were pretty much immediate due to me being a very active person. I lost 5 lbs in a little under 2 days (could be water retention idfk) but this was a big milestone and gave me the confidence to keep with it. It’s week two now and I’m experiencing chest pain, fatigue, and extreme exhaustion. The only cardio I can really manage are short interval sprints and long incline walks. When I work out, I can feel my body practically begging me to stop and eat food.
I just don’t know what to do because when I was exercising regularly at 1600 I didn’t see any substantial weight loss, but when I cut down to 1000 I finally get results. Is 600 calories really that much of a difference? If anyone has advice for me, I’d greatly appreciate it. Thanks
