I've lost most of my weight being in a calorie deficit. This has been my lifestyle for over an year now and it's become my new normal. I've gradually decreased my intake as I lose weight and currently eating around 1300cal / day during the week and during the weekends I tend to eat a bit more but still maintain my deficit. (Just to add more context, I still eat balanced meals. I plan everything and meal prep every week.)
I barely exercised and maybe did 1-2 exercises a week. Last month I decided to get a personal trainer to help me improve my fitness. I knew it was coming but he wants me to start eating more since I'm exercising more often and doing a lot of weight training now. He's patient with me, asking often if I managed to eat more that day but mentally I can't do it. This lifestyle has become my normal, and I know this method will result in weight loss. But my brain is convincing me if I change my lifestyle, I will pick up weight again. My biggest fear is the day I reach my goal weight and need to start eating at maintenance.
For those of you who have been in a calorie deficit and now eating at maintenance, how did you achieve that mindset shift?
