I've been trying to lose weight for a really long time. I've been struggling with it, some periods more than others, but it's been a constant thing for years. I'm not obese, but I'm not exactly in the shape I want to be. For reference, I'm around 12 kg (~27 pounds) from my ideal weight. I really try to stay consistent and don't give up, but it's a bit challenging when I make an effort everyday and nothing seems to change.
I first started moving more. I tried to exercise for 20 minutes at least 5 times a week (that's all the time I could spare with work/studies). I hate exercising, but I got a comforting feeling when I was able to keep pushing and doing it. Still, that didn't help much, I didn't see big changes.
I've tried to keep exercising and eat less. I haven't gone on any super restrictive diets because my diet itself is not bad: I never go to fast food places, always drink water with my meals, and have an overall really balanced nutrition. But I eat too much. So I figured eating less would help, but after doing it and not seeing results, my motivation goes away and the cycle starts all over.
I try really hard to stay motivated, because I feel like I can do it, but at the same time, I feel like I might be doing something wrong, because nothing seems to help me lose the weight I want to lose.
Should I be more patient when waiting for results? How long does it realistically take? How can I keep up my motivation?
Any additional tips for losing weight?
