I’ve been pretty consistent in a calorie counting since September 2023 and I’ve noticed a good amount of weight loss and have been enjoying (mostly) the lifestyle change.
I have just had a week off work and had some time away on holiday, and in the weeks running up to this I was experiencing some weight loss fatigue where in the first time properly for the 6+ months of calorie counting I was getting really quite bored and exhausted tracking everything I was eating. I decided I was going to give myself some time off whilst I was on holiday and not restrict myself.
For the past week I have ate out for most meals and drank quite a bit. I wouldn’t say I have gone overboard and have still been fairly active, but have definitely ate a lot more than I have been for a long time. I was trying not to worry about calories and for the most part I wasn’t, but still had that little niggle in the back of my mind about what the scales may say when I come back.
I got home yesterday and weighed myself to find…. I was the exact same weight from when I left!!! I was so prepared to have gained 7lbs+ as have heard about water weight in these scenarios, but my weight has not shifted at all.
My plan now is to get back to the calorie deficit on Monday, and still anticipate that i might see a slight change in the scales, but for the most part feel happy that I’ve been able to give myself a break and it not result in disastrous repercussions. I’m hoping after my break I will overcome the fatigue I was experiencing and be back to having a bit of keenness in my weight loss journey!
