Mindfulness and meditation never really clicked until I started CICO.

37m trying to lose ~50lbs, 5’10” SW 220lbs.

Over time I’ve dabbled with mindfulness through guided apps and occasional in person meditation but never really clicked.

Until now. The intrusive thoughts associated with being in a calorie deficit hit my like a freight train in the first few weeks - until it occurred to me that ‘hey this is me observing my own thoughts! I can be aware of them and then let them go!’.

Since then, I’ve brought back a meditation habit and it’s felt so much more relevant, and reinforcing of trying to change my habits around eating.

I’m using lots of tactics (not my first attempt at losing weight!); CICO, IF, exercise (I’m pretty active), diet improvement etc. So far so good (15lbs down over 9 weeks), but early days.

The mindfulness wasn’t an intentional tactic but has turned out to be a great support, thought I’d share.
