Hey r/loseit fam! I’ve started my weight loss journey on semaglutide. I think I’ve got the diet down pat.
Now what about exercising?
I used to exercise regularly when I was 18/19 years old. Then again when I was 25/26 years old and from 27-29 years old.
I’m 36 now and it’s been so hard to get started or keep up with an exercise routine.
I’m single and childless so I really don’t have an excuse.
I think the main things holding me back are:
(1) I’m on oratane for acne. I’ve been on it for 2 years but my doc is tapering me off and I expect to finally finish sometime in Feb. My joints have really ached since I started so maybe that’s why I’ve found it so hard to exercise.
(2) sleep apnea. I sleep horribly. I’m on a CPAP, but I feel like a get a good night’s sleep maybe every 10 days or so. My ENT surgeon says that I should just exercise to be able to sleep better. But I feel so sapped of energy after work that I find it super hard to exercise.
I’d be so grateful if some of you could point me in the right direction as to how I can get exercise started. I need to break the vicious cycle I have described above when it comes to sleeping vs exercise.
Edit: I’d also like to ask about the intricacies of dealing with anxiety. I don’t get anxiety attacks. On a day to day basis I feel calm but I was an anxious child and in my 20s did have bad insomnia eg I would lie in bed with my heart racing.
I do worry quite a lot about various things in my life so is it possible that I could have over the years internalized my anxiety? Or could the years of sleeplessness have given me some sort of anxiety in relation to sleep?
I ask because I have gotten my hands on Valium while on holiday in india and it always makes me sleep super well. That’s why i think my sleep issues are related to anxiety.
