Hello. I am a 17 year old female. I am 5'3 and weigh 220lbs. I have a goal weight of 130lbs.
I've been overweight my whole life and I've decided that I want to be at a normal weight for my gender and height. I started my weight loss attempts a month ago. I began to eat more vegetables and less junk food and smaller portions with less carbs. I'm a patient at a weight loss clinic and the doctor said not to count calories because it is unsustainable. He said to eat 2-3 meals a day with half the plate being vegetables and the other half with protein and carbs. I'm still very concerned over my calorie intake because I don't know how much I need, but I've been eating roughly 2000 a day. I also go for a walk/run everyday for 30-90 minutes.
I've also begun to lift weights 3 times a week. I lift 40-50lbs now and use a workout machine. I don't know what the parts are called but 3 parts target the arms, 1 part targets the chest and 1 part targets the legs. For each I do 2 sets of 10reps at 40lbs, and then 1 set of 10 reps at 50lbs. I'm unsure if this workout is good or not. I've also heard that when you lift weights you need more calories but I'm not trying to become buff. It's likely obvious by my words but I seriously don't know what im doing. It's difficult and confusing because I've tried doing my own research but all these websites say different things so I feel really lost. Also I've noticed that it'll lose 2-3 lbs and then gain it right back. I weigh myself everyday but not sure if I should.
I also have sleep apena. I have a cpap machine but my sleep schedule is whack. I go to bed between 3-5am and get up at 1-5pm.
I also suffer from anixtey and depression and am on the anit depressant effexor.
I also find myself feeling hungry all the time Is my workout okay? How many calories do I need? Could my sleep be affecting things? Also any other advice? Also I am open to constructive criticism if I need to hear it. Thanks in advance.
