Stats: 26M / 185cm (6'1), 86kg (190 lbs) / BF estimate 18~22%
I had been lifting weights seriously for about 6 months with the goal of putting on muscle when I suffered an unrelated sports injury that forced me to stop lifting for the past 3 months. During those three months I ate whatever I want, did only some light cardio / sport skill work 2 days out of the week during a "good week," and I put on a bunch of fat. I went from 80kg (175 lbs) to 86 kg (190 lbs), all fat, my face and abs have lost a lot of definition and I just feel jiggly lol.
My lifts for reps before I got injured (still beginner level imo):
Deadlift - 134kg (295 lbs), Squat - 107kg (235 lbs), Bench - 75kg (165 lbs), OHP - 54kg (120 lbs)
I am going to get back into the gym this week, and will probably run SL or Greyskull on MWF and do conditioning/sport skill work on TTHS with a caloric deficit of 500-750 kcal per day (high protein, low carb, moderate fat). With my stats and at that caloric deficit, is it realistic to expect to be able to build muscle/strength and lose fat at the same time until my strength / musculature becomes more advanced?
I know I am "not that fat" or that some may say I don't have enough muscle or am too weak to worry about cutting, but it's just my personal preference. I have been an athlete all my life and not happy or comfortable with this level of bodyfat. Of course, I still want to get stronger and build muscle, but for now, my goal is to get back down to a bodyfat% I would be comfortable bulking from.
TLDR; With my stats and at that caloric deficit, is it realistic to expect to be able to build muscle/strength and lose fat at the same time until my strength / musculature becomes more advanced?
