I'm sorry it sounds dumb, but after trying toresearch Kcals to Calories myself I still don't understand.

I feel pretty dumb for asking. I know it's been discussed, I've tried googling. What's the difference between a kcal and a calories? I'm American, living abroad.

Things here (China) are in Kcals. I've gotten used to using the metric system for distance, speed, measurement, and weight. So, I'm not completely helpless right? At least I'm not measuring stuff in football fields anymore. All jokes aside, This has been driving me insane. I put on so much weight since my move here 5 years ago. I went from 160lbs(~72kg) to 210lbs(~96kg). It's affecting my daily life, my sleep, and my overall physical and mental health.

I'm trying to do a calorie deficient diet, and putting in 10k steps a day at minimum.

I ate the same thing from a health food place, every day, for the past 7 days. I am down 2lbs(~1kg). But they list all of the food being in Kcals.

Chicken spinach wrap- 218Kcal

Juice(that they make fresh with a juicer)- 156kcal

and the side dish, which I change around

Hard boiled egg(70kcal) or grilled chicken breast slices(117kcal).

After that, I stop eating. I drink green tea(I am in China after all, I get the good stuff), unflavored seltzer, water, and at most...If I'm feeling really adventurous, or looking to stare danger in the eyes...I add a lemon slice to one of my beverages. ;)

From what I've read, used google, and converters, but it just doesn't seem right.

Like, apparently from the converter that egg in kcal to calories would be 70,000 calories. Which I know is just ridiculous and impossible. But after searching how many calories a hard boiled egg has, it's about anywhere from 70-78. I just want to be able to calculate clearly and it's pretty annoying that I can't get a clear number. Is there even a difference between Calories and Kcals?

Again, I apologize if it sounds dumb. I just want to lose some weight guys. I tried searching it myself, I don't get what the difference is.
