I’m looking for advice on how to lose and maintain about 15–20 lbs. I’m not trying to be “small” I never have been. I grew up in the 90th percentile and currently I’m 5’10” and around 215 lbs.
I’ve always been active and still am I attend Orangetheory 3x weekly.
Here’s where I struggle: I’m not into super restrictive or “diet culture” meals (plain ground turkey, sweet potatoes, etc.) Realistically, I do better eating foods I actually enjoy, just in smaller portions. I also have oral allergy syndrome and a peanut/tree nut allergy, which limits a lot of foods and makes some common “healthy” options off-limits for me.
I’ve tried a GLP-1 in the past and it worked for weight loss while I was on it, but I had trouble retaining muscle and ultimately stopped (I looked ill). Less than a year later, the weight came back and I’ve had a hard time keeping it off.
I’ve also tried calorie deficits and meal prep, but I often end up feeling constantly hungry, low-energy, and honestly kind of irritable and which sometimes leads to binge-type behavior.
I’m looking for realistic, sustainable advice from people who’ve been in a similar situation especially if you’re taller, active, or not interested in extreme restriction. What actually worked for you long-term?
