Weight has always been a struggle for me - I've weighed between 180-200lbs ever since I was around 12-13y/o. Now I'm a 29 year old woman who still struggles with weight. For a few years I dropped, one of those years being down to 125lbs but it was stress induced, didn't last and I felt like garbage. Honestly, I'm less concerned about the number on the scale and just want to feel and look healthy again - my goal weight is where I'm comfortable.. I've always had a lot of muscle mass so 130-140 is "small" for me. In an ideal world, I'll hit my goal weight by July.
Height: 5'2"
SW/CW: 195lbs
GW: 140lbs
I struggle with cardio - between the cold weather and the weight, I think I'm getting asthma... will be checking in with a doc soon to see if I can get an inhaler/check in, but alas, I don't have a family doctor. So in the meantime I'm doing "careful" cardio, not pushing my lungs but trying to get 15-30min of cardio with my heart rate 150-160bpm, along with 45min-1hour of strength training. Realized today I sit in the hypertrophy weight lifting with 8-12 reps where I'm hitting muscle tremors at the end of a set, if that makes a difference.
I'm going to start tracking my calories again... I'd say I average 1500-2200 calories a day, generally healthy eating but there's room for improvement. I'm considering doing alternate day fasting because I find that I feel physically better if I go long stretches without eating anyway, so it seems feasible for me. 1200-1500cal on feast days, 500 on fast days.
I want to keep going to the gym 3-4 days a week to rebuild muscle, but I feel like I'm not helping myself by only doing 15-30 minutes of cardio each time. Once winter breaks I'll be adding more hikes, but until then, most of my exercise will be at the gym.
Can someone please just weigh in if this makes sense for my goals? TIA
