Gained weight, but clothes are fitting looser

Hi all,

So a quick backstory. I got diagnosed with diabetes at age 30 in September of this year. I made pretty drastic changes, and lost some weight. As of October 31st, my weight was 72.02 kg, down from about 82-84. My height is 156 cm.

From 1st November to yesterday, I was on a vacation/workation to a place that's much colder than home. (By at least 10-15 degree celcius). We walked a lot, and ate a lot. I stopped counting calories, but whenever I measured/counted, I was eating at my maintenance at home (I get in 10k steps a day and had the maintenance calculated for light exercise. In the last week of the vacation, we hiked a lot. The vacation was in the mountains so there were no flat walks, it was either uphill or downhill. 10k steps was minimum, but we also did 3 16 km hikes, and also some 6-10 km walks, etc.

Now my calves are a whole lot bigger than they used to be, I can walk easier as well and I look smaller. The clothes that fit snugly at the start of the vacation are looser now. My butt is also rounder.

My problem is that I weighed myself today morning and I weight 73.8. Almost 2 kgs heavier.

Can added muscle make that much of a difference? Or can a carb heavy diet cause that much water retention? Since I'm diabetic, at home I eat low carb, but on vacation, since it was colder and we were walking a lot, and also because of lack of options, we mostly just ate carbs for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Do you think there's a bunch of water weight that has also added on?

From the way I looked, I thought I would be closer to 68-69 now. I know I shouldn't define my fat loss by numbers on the scale, but I can't help but feel a bit discouraged.
