Hey all.
I started losing weight maybe 5 months ago (not sure exactly now) initially though just diet. Then i joined the gym and go 5 times a week. I do a full body workout 3 times a week and twice a week i go on the treadmill and run about 10km each time.
I have been sticking to 1700 to 1750 calories a day and i document every bit of food and drink so i think its fairly accurate. Its mostly veg, porridge, chicken breasts, salad, and lots of greek yoghurt to keep my protein high.
I started off around 215lbs. I am now 175 lbs (i am 5ft 10 and male and middle aged). I am not sure about my target weight (probably 161 lbs) but despite the exercise and unchanged calories my weight has stayed unchanged a couple of weeks.
I am sure many have had this happen, im just curious why people think it does?.
Do you think some of it is down to extra muscle gain? (i am definitely stronger now but dont seem more muscular) or do you think people eat more after exercise and dont document it properly?
Or- do you believe the body consumes less calories when in a deficit to compensate?. I have never understood how this would work as i would assume the body always tries to be efficient i have never been sure i believe in the whole idea of the body conserving calories more efficiently when in a deficit.
Cheers.
