Background: I used to eat fast food daily and snack constantly. Two weeks ago I started tracking and aimed for a calorie deficit. After 2–3 days at ~1200–1500 kcal I lost appetite and now consistently eat under 1000 kcal (often 600–800.. some days way less). Forcing food makes me nauseous or overly full. I’m concerned about metabolic slowdown and nutrient deficits.
Typical day now:
- Breakfast: 2 boiled eggs + oatmeal (sometimes with fruit)
- Snacks throughout the day: roasted seaweed, fruit, pickles, rice cake, yogurt
- Lunch: tuna packet mixed with Greek yogurt, + a slice of bread (sometimes with small avocado)
- Dinner: Healthy Choice frozen meal OR chicken + rice + veggies
- Post dinner: protein shake
(I often don't actually get all of this in since my appetite has been low)
Stats: 17 y/o female, 5’2”, 177 lbs → target ~130
Is this normal? Has anyone fixed their appetite after this kind of crash? How do I slowly increase my intake without feeling sick?
