I’ve been reflecting on my journey lately, and I thought I’d share a few of the biggest things I’ve learned along the way. I love this community and have taken so much from it — hopefully, this gives a little value back.
1. Consistency beats motivation. You don’t have to be fired up every day. What matters is showing up, tracking, and sticking to the plan even when you don’t feel like it.
2. The scale is just one tool. Daily weigh-ins can be helpful, but trends matter more than single numbers. Look at weekly or monthly averages, not day-to-day fluctuations.
3. Nutrition is 70% of the game. Exercise is important, but you can’t out-train poor eating habits. Learning portion control and logging honestly made the biggest difference.
4. Social pressure is real — and it’s okay to say no. Whether it’s drinks, desserts, or “just one bite,” standing your ground matters. Real friends respect your goals.
5. Progress feels better than perfection. I beat myself up over small gains at first, but long-term results are what matter. Losing 95lbs didn’t happen overnight, and setbacks were just part of the path forward.
At the end of the day, the sweat, frustration, and even failures were worth it. You will feel better, and your body will thank you.
I’d love to hear from you all — what’s the biggest lesson you’ve learned on your journey?
