Tiny bit of a cheat post as I am eating in a surplus currently to try and build muscle mass. Not necessarily lose it.
details: maintenance for me WAS around 2200-2300kcal.
I was on a 5/3/1 programme 4 times a week and I am a Les Mills Body Combat Instructor so average teaching 3x45 minute classes a week of HIIT whether on/off a lifting day.
Switched to 6 day PPLPPLR on 15th Dec as that was 6 months on from 5/3/1 and I stopped progressing.
To build muscle and put on weight I went up in 100kcals phrases and ended up at 2,600kcal -2,700kcal. This was from Sept 1st.
i weigh daily first thing and measure waist to check progress or regression.
Up to 24th Dec I was weighing in daily 71.5-71.8kg and 29inch waist. This was 2 months of eating 2600-2800kcal so figured it was my new maintenance based on my current activity level.
I had Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Years Eve off of my diet so ate to my hearts content. 3 days.
I showed vague notice of the daily weigh ins still being very aware of the fluctuations due to diet.
I peaked at 74.7kgs after the holidays and thought I'd give it a week of normal eating back at 2,600kcal-2,700 to see it come back down thinking it would just be carbs /salt etc weight.
Now we are at January 12th and my weight hasn't gone anywhere near back to normal, it's averaging between 73kgs to 73.5kgs. nearly 2 weeks.
What's even weirder is I've had an entire week blocks off before for all inclusive holidays and ate like a pig and it's always come back down a less than a week later.
I sincerely doubt I've put on 1.5kgs of muscle in just a month of this new programme but why is the weight clinging on this time and not going back to normal after 2 weeks.
last week saw a fitness launch programme so I've been doing my usual PPLPPL plus teaching even more cardio classes but my weigh in today is the highest it's been since Christmas !?
Yeah I know I said I want to put on weight and build mass but also not it's left me confused with what my maintenance is and if I'm just putting on body fat.
Anyone experienced this before? Has it taken longer for you to go back to maintenance weight?
Also In body Scanners still suck. I stay away from them normal but thought I'd do just have a quick look, last week, great!! increase in muscle mass this programme must be working...this week, skeletal muscle mass dropped by a KG and body fat percentage up 2%...hmmmm
