I’m baffled here and looking to understand what’s going on. TLDR: why are my measurements going up when I’m doing all the “right” things?
I joined a gym a few months ago, and have been going fairly consistently, around 3 times a week. I do a blend of cardio (30-60 mins, depending on the day) and full body circuit strength training (about 30 minutes). I can feel that I’ve been improving, able to up resistance on the bike during cardio and use heavier weights while training, which is great! My joints feel more stable too, which rocks.
But the issue is that my clothes are getting tight. I know that weight can go up when you build muscle, but in previous experience, when I gain muscle I trim down too. Not this time. The number on the scale is going up, my clothes are getting tight, and I don’t look any better in the mirror. It’s really messing with my head.
I don’t understand what’s going wrong. My diet is the same as it was before I started all of this - I track so I know I’m not falling off here. Any clue why this is happening or what I can maybe change in my routine to fix it?
