Years of slow, steady weight loss (70lbs+). Now I'm injured and nervous. Maintaining okay so far, but I could use encouragement.
Well, I was feeling honestly better than I've felt physically and mentally in I don't know how long (decades, for sure). Weight loss of over 70 lbs, 20 lbs from goal -- and I even ordered some nice clothes that fit. Then I tore a tendon in my foot a month ago (randomly -- I was standing still, it just tore, so weird). Bilateral tendonitis, with a peroneal brevis tendon tear on right foot is the diagnosis. Since then, I've been on crutches and a knee scooter, going to PT and hoping to avoid surgery. I've not gained weight at all, but I've not lost, either. UGH. Maybe now is the time to embrace maintenance and see how I do?
Is it inevitable I'll gain some weight back if I wind up with a longer-term recovery (like from surgery)? Following CICO and have been my whole weight loss journey, so my head knows probably not, but my emotions are screeching "yes! it's all coming back if you don't heal faster!"
Need some encouragement from others who've been there... what to do, what not to do... How you succeeded (or didn't, lessons you learned).
Crutches, by the way, really do work your core and upper arms, at least. I'm in my "find the silver linings" era :)
