I have a question

So back when I was tracking my calories- I was literally going no where. No changes nothing. I would weight myself and I would be 207 through the week. Then when I stopped and just did portion control ( like I would eat small things during the afternoon, skip breakfast and eat for dinner) and I saw a significant change. ( I'm back at 207 because I've been having a lot of celebrations including my own birthday so been eating lots of desserts I wouldn't normally) So what I am wondering is if I should just wait until the end of the day to eat like I want and eat small things during the afternoon and nothing during breakfast, or should I go back to calorie counting ( my caloric deficit is 1,600 and I started when I was 220)
